Mohan Perera

Coach

Badminton is my passion.  I grew up in a Badminton family and have been playing since I was 6 years old.  I competed at School and all Island levels in Sri Lanka. I played at junior national level and was a Collorsman for St Peters College Sri Lanka for captaining the School Team at different age groups. I was a member of the Junior National Squad of Sri Lankan Badminton Association. I then coached for a couple of years in Sri Lanka before moving to UAE. Once I moved, I continued to play but wanted to share my passion. Thus, began my training to become a Badminton coach and a Technical official. I obtained BWF certification for teaching and coaching as well as for umpiring. I have been coaching in UAE for some time now and also Officiating at local and International Badminton Tournaments whilst still continuing to play at local Tournaments.

One of the highlights of my Officiating career was the opportunity to be technical official at the Special Olympics in 2019. I was ranked in the UAE top 10 technical officials for 2019.
